A good variety for beginners, Fragaria ‘Earliglow’ (Junebearing Strawberry) is an early season cultivar producing firm, glossy, medium-sized, deep red berries. Conical and symmetrical, they have great, sweet flavor. Five-petaled white flowers adorned with yellow centers appear in early spring and give way to the lovely fruits around the month of June. Tremendously popular, Junebearers produce the largest strawberries, and do so over a period of 2-3 weeks. Good resistance to red stele and intermediate resistance to Verticillium wilt. May remain evergreen in frost-free areas.

A strawberry patch is ravishing with its small mounds of fresh, green, pleated leaves which hide dangling, ruby-red fruits begging to be picked and enjoyed. This Junebearing Strawberry can be successfully grown in a container too. Excellent for pie, fresh eating and jams.

Strawberry varieties are grouped by fruiting habit—June-bearing, everbearing, and day-neutral. Within June-bearing types, cultivars are described as early, midseason, or late. Planting a mix—e.g., early/mid/late June-bearers plus a day-neutral—will extend your harvest so you enjoy fresh strawberries for much longer.
