Hosta ‘Fragrant Bouquet’ (Plantain Lily)

Hosta ‘Fragrant Bouquet’ (Plantain Lily) is a clump-forming perennial forming an open mound of broadly ovate and slightly twisted, chartreuse to apple green leaves, 8 in. long (20 cm), narrowly margined yellow to creamy white. Satiny above and glaucous below, the leaves of this foliage plant display deeply impressed veins. Loose clusters of trumpet-shaped, fragrant, pale purple flowers appear in summer, rising on scapes reaching 3 ft. (90 cm). Fast-growing, this hosta cultivar is quite sun tolerant as long as adequate moisture is provided.

• Easy grower, this clump-forming perennial grows 18 in. tall (45 cm) and spreads 26 in. (65 cm).
• Performs best in sun, part shade to full shade in fertile, moist, well-drained soils. Site in sun all day, except in the hottest climates, to produce the best leaf color and the most profuse floral display. Shelter from cold, dry winds.
• Perfect for the shade garden, mixed with other perennials in beds and borders, city gardens, cottage gardens, and containers. Great as a groundcover or underplanting shrubs and roses.
• Watch for slugs and snails which could damage the attractive foliage.
• Cut off the stems after blooming to encourage the plant’s growth. Discolored leaves should be trimmed back to the ground.
• Propagate by division in early spring or late summer.
