Sedum populifolium, Poplar-Leaved Stonecrop, Showy Stonecrop, Anacampseros populifolia, Hylotelephium populifolium , Evergreen Shrub, Evergreen Sedum

An unusual stonecrop, Sedum populifolium (Showy Stonecrop) is a small deciduous succulent shrub with cinnamon brown stems and heart-shaped, toothed, green leaves adorned with wavy edges. Blooming in late summer and early fall, clusters of small, scented, star-shaped white flowers with pink carpels are borne above the foliage. Native to Siberia, Showy Stonecrop has a strongly clumping habit. Resilient and long-lived, it can be used in troughs or in rock gardens. It also makes a wonderful container plant, by itself or in combination.

  • Grows up to 6-18 in. tall (15-45 cm) and 12-24 in. wide (30-60 cm).
  • Performs best in full sun in moderately fertile, neutral to slightly alkaline, well-drained soils
  • Perfect for beds and borders, city gardens, coastal gardens, cottage gardens, rock gardens, containers or edging.
  • No serious pest or disease issues. Keep an eye out for slugs, snails, vine weevil or root rot.
  • Low maintenance, this Sedum forgives neglect!
  • Cut back after flowering to maintain shape or leave seedheads overwinter
  • Propagate by division in spring. Propagate by softwood cuttings of non-flowering shoots in early summer.
  • Native to Siberia.
