Sedum dasyphyllum (Corsican Stonecrop)

Sedum dasyphyllum (Corsican Stonecrop) is a low growing, mat-forming, evergreen succulent with a tight foliage of minuscule, fleshy, silver-gray leaves borne in spirals of 4-5 rows along the stems. The leaves take on a pink or purple tinge in times of stress (drought or cool weather). Clusters of tiny, star-shaped, white and pink streaked flowers bloom just above the foliage in early summer. Attractive in full flower, the plant is visited by scores of butterflies. Incredibly tough, cold-hardy and drought tolerant, Corsican Stonecrop spreads readily: its tiny leaves break off easily and take root forming new plants. Very easy to grow in containers or in the rock garden, Corsican Stonecrop can form a carpet that drapes over stones or walls on rock crevices. It can also be used as a hardy, colorful groundcover that remains beautiful throughout the seasons.

• Grows up to 1-2 in. tall (2-5 cm) and 6-8 in. wide (15-20 cm). 
• Performs best in full sun, in poor to moderately fertile, alkaline to neutral, dry to moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates light shade. Drought tolerant once established. Avoid winter wet.
• Perfect for rock gardens, edging or containers.
• No serious pest or disease issues. Keep an eye out for fungal and bacterial crown and root rots. Deer and rabbit resistant.
• Low maintenance, this Sedum forgives neglect!
• Propagate by division or softwood cuttings in spring.
• Native to Western Mediterranean, Southern and central Europe, Turkey and North Africa.
