Early Dutch Honeysuckle, Honeysuckle 'Belgica', Dutch Woodbine 'Belgica'
Deliciously scented, Lonicera periclymenum ‘Belgica’ (Early Dutch Honeysuckle) is a twining deciduous vine with masses of tubular, white flowers that turn deep yellow and are streaked raspberry-red outside. Produced in succession from late spring to mid-summer, the fragrant flowers eventually give way (in hot summers) to small, bright red berries. Vigorous, this honeysuckle has a foliage of dark green, oval leaves, bluish-green underneath. A hardy climber that will happily cover walls, fences or pergolas for a striking floral display. The glorious scent is most potent at night, so plant it near a house window where the heady perfume will drift in on warm evenings.
