Iris latifolia (English Iris) is a bulbous perennial boasting blue to deep violet flowers, 3-4 in. wide (8-10 cm), adorned with a yellow stripe down the center of each very broad fall. Blooming in late spring to early summer, 1-2 blossoms per stem, they are borne above the foliage of erect, narrowly lance-shaped leaves. Native to the Pyrenees and Spain, this charming wild iris is an exceptionally good plant for naturalizing in grass.
