The Tazetta Narcissus group includes very short cupped, sweetly fragrant, mid-sized daffodils bearing multiple flowers, up to 3-20 per sturdy stem. Many are not hardy to the more northern climates, but are terrific performers in USDA Zones 5-9. Excellent for forcing (this division includes the world-famous but tender paperwhites), they also naturalize readily in wet-winter, dry-summer climates. Suitable as garden plants or for cutting, most bloom in mid-late spring.

Grow up to 6-18 in. tall (15-45 cm).
Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soils in full sun or light shade. Keep the soil moist during the growing season, but reduce watering after foliage begins to die back.
They are welcomed additions to beds, borders, containers, around shrubs, under deciduous trees or in naturalized areas. Provide spectacular drifts of color when planted en masse or mixed with any other flowering bulbs. For best visual impact, plant in groups (at least 6 bulbs). Excellent as cut flowers and can be grown in indoor pots!

Narcissus ‘Ariel’ (Tazetta Daffodil) is a very fragrant Paperwhite daffodil with clusters of large, pure white flowers, 2 in. across (5 cm), slightly facing down, and adorned with a flat cup. It is not winter hardy but is perfect for producing flowers in a short time when grown indoors and adds beauty inside the house during an otherwise drab time of year. In hardiness zones 8-11, however, this charming daffodil can also be planted outside in the garden where it will bloom annually for many years.

Grown for its wonderful fragrance, Narcissus Chinese Sacred Lily produces 5-10 small scented flowers per stem, each adorned with a small golden-yellow cup and pure white petals.
